Age is a risk factor of stroke due to cardiovascular and metabolic issues that emerge in older people. However, not all treated post-acute stroke patients can go home immediately after treatment as they may need additional care and monitoring for a period of time.

During rehabilitation, the patient's diet and health will be monitored. Patients are also encouraged to do some exercises and cease unhealthy habits like smoking.
